Install the add-on
There are two downloads: one for Blender 4.2 and later, and a Legacy one for 3.0 to 4.1. Both install the same way.
The Blender add-on download is coming soon.
- Open the add-on preferences
In Blender, go to Edit → Preferences → Add-ons.
- Install the ZIP
Click Install… (in 4.2 and later it's under the menu at the top right of the Add-ons list, as Install from Disk…) and pick the ZIP. Don't unzip it.
- Enable RenderBuddy
Tick RenderBuddy in the list.
The RenderBuddy panel
Find it in Properties → Render → RenderBuddy. It shows whether the Agent is connected, the render state, the job ID and the progress. It also has a Stop Render button and Retry Connection.
Render
Render as usual: F12 for a still, Ctrl + F12 for an animation. Cycles and Eevee are both tracked. Your phone shows the frame, the progress and the time left.
From your phone
- Notifications when a render starts, finishes, fails or is cancelled, and when black frames show up.
- Preview the current frame.
- Stop an animation render.
Blender can only be stopped between frames. A single-frame render has to be stopped in Blender itself, with Esc.
Viewport renders aren't tracked.
Troubleshooting
The panel says the Agent isn't connected
Start the Agent, then click Retry Connection in the panel.
The render doesn't show up in the app
Make sure the Agent is paired: its window shows your account under Your phone.
Progress stays at 0%
Progress moves once the first frame is done. For problems, check Blender's system console.
